The Night of Madness was the night during which warlockry came in to the World. Four hours and eighteen minutes after sunset on the fourth day of Summerheat in YS 5202 an object of unknown origin fell from the sky to land in the Barony of Aldagmor. Described as a large falling star by those who witnessed it, at roughly the time of impact individuals throughout the world became Warlocks, though their experiences varied. Those individuals who were asleep reported nightmares of differing severity while individuals who were awake reported a momentary feeling of disorientation or being struck. All individuals who had these experiences were instantly transformed into warlocks, the severity of their experience being proportional to their new power, and thousands of which simply succumbed to the Call without ever waking up.
