Lord Faran was a member of one of the ruling families in Ethshar of the Spices, and the right hand of Azrad VI until the events of the Night of Madness turned him into a warlock. He became the leader of the new warlocks in the area until he was subject to Fendel’s Superior Petrifaction, and subsequently smashed by accident, as punishment by the Wizards' Guild for dabbling in multiple forms of magic and using magic while holding government title. Due to the interference of Faran's nephew Hanner the Guild was given the impression that Faran managed to slay his attacker, a powerful wizard, even after being subject to the spell.
