The Vondish Ambassador is the tenth Legend of Ethshar, and the second of the Ethshar Serials, placing it between The Spriggan Mirror and The Unwelcome Warlock in publishing order. It is set in 5224, three years after the events of the Unwilling Warlord to which it is a sequel.
It is the story, as experienced by Emmis of Shiphaven, of what happened when Lar Samber's son, by appointment of the Imperial Council and of the Regent Sterren of Semma the ambassador plenipotentiary from the Empire of Vond to the court of Azrad VII, overlord of Ethshar of the Spices and Triumvir of the Hegemony of the Three Ethshars, came to Ethshar.
A number of events in this story are relevant to The Final Calling.
